英文解釈の問題の中に、なかなか興味深い文章があった。
It is, no doubt, a very laudable effort,
in modern teaching, to render as much as possible
of what the young are required to learn,
easy and interesting to them.
But when this principle is pushed to the length
of not requiring them to learn anything
but what has been made easy and interesting,
one of the chief objects of education is sacrificed.

うむ、同意である。
時に難しいものに対する挑戦も必要だ。
難しいものが分かるようになる、そこにも価値がある。
そして、それにより新たな興味も生まれる。
自ら学べない人間は、人生を台無しにしている。
